LibDems across the country are starting to have second thoughts about the coalition government.
Having lost overall control of the council in Cyril Smith's former strong-hold of Rochdale and settled for coalition control, six LibDem councillors have now resigned. Other LibDem councillors are thought to be close to resigning.
One ex-LibDem councillor said “We don’t feel this is the party we were elected to – that is the bottom line. We didn’t like the direction the leadership were taking us. There has been a lot of dissatisfaction for many months."
Others are said to be equally dissatisfied with the local and national leadership saying "They are doing too many U-turns nationally."
