Before the general election the LibDems promised to introduce a Post Office Bank to help ensure the survival of so many local Post Offices.
Quote: Lynne Featherstone, LibDem MP (4 May): "We’re going to break up the banks ... our post office bank will support local people and local comunities to lend to viable businesses so that we can have a flourishing local economy again."
But, of course, that was the before the election.
Now, settling back in the comfort of their ministerial cars, this is just the latest of the LibDem pledges to be dumped. Instead, they intend to hand more business to the (unbroken) banks. Another victory for the "grown up" politics of the coalition.
