Cameron's Judgement "Deeply Flawed" In Phone Hacking Scandal

It had to come. It was always just a matter of time.

So what does it say about Cameron's judgement of hanging on to his spin doctor until it was completely untenable?

Top Tory commentators say it was "deeply flawed".

Coulson resigned from his position as editor of News of the World amid an investigation into illegal phone-tapping by his journalists in January 2007 - a matter still under review by the police.

He was appointed Cameron's chief spin doctor the following July and was paid £140,000 - just £2,500 less than Cameron himself.
